一、課程目標Course objectives:
This course is designed to integrate social workers' English abilities. It aims to help students precisely use practical English to describe how they feel in social work filed. It also aims at developing students’ online self-learning habits and increases their skills in attending English Proficiency tests.
This course includes the following aspects.
1.Provide students with rich background knowledge to help improve reading, writing and listening comprehension.
2.Provide learners with clear and fully expressed instructions in learning how to process and decipher new content.
3.Help students learn how to use reading skills such as identifying, inferring, scanning, skimming and predicating in order to increase reading fluency.
4.It not only covers every important area of the English language but also provides even more help for students wanting to improve their use of English abilities.
5.It also uses listening comprehension questions (main idea) from GEPT intermediate level/ TOEIC to assess students’ proficiency.

三、授課方式Teaching approach:
1. Communicative approach and co-operative learning:
Teachers can use textbook or other relevant articles to design some questions about detail and have students work in groups to look for the specific information.
Teachers can also use reading comprehension questions (main topics) from GEPT intermediate level/TOEIC to assess students’ proficiency.
2. Drill & practice (e.g.: Listening comprehension)
 
四、評量方式Grading criteria:
1.	Class participation, assignments and papers------35%
2.	Midterm Exam----- 25%
3.	Final Exam----- 25%
4.      Class Notes & Discussion Records:-----15%
P.S.無故缺席扣三分。期初期中期末考缺席者一次扣總分五分。無故缺席未跟課務組請假者總分一次扣二分。 
每學期缺課時數達十小時以上(含請假者),扣總成績十分,並依缺課時數累進。上課玩手機,筆電者或ipad已勸告未改進者,一次扣二分。
